2015 BMW R 1200 GS and GS Adventure

BMW has announced some model year updates for its R 1200 GS and GS Adventure enduro bikes.

For the first time, both models can be specified with Shift Assistant Pro and a Keyless Ride System as cost options. The former lets the rider change gears without using the clutch, while the latter allows the motorcycle to be started without inserting the ignition key.

A change specific to the R 1200 GS is the fitment of a modified crankshaft. This feature, which is already part of the Adventure’s specification, is designed to improve the 1,170 cc boxer-twin engine’s refinement.

The current R 1200 GS Adventure was only unveiled last October, so understandably alterations are negligible. However, to help it appeal to a broader range of customers, a low suspension option is being made available that drops the ride height by 30 mm (1.2”). Furthermore, buyers can now order their Adventure with a standard R 1200 GS saddle to reduce leg stretch to the ground by an additional 20 mm (0.8”).
