BMW 3.0 CSL Hommage revealed

Along with the Concept 101 motorcycle, BMW has created a one-off 3.0 CSL Hommage for this year’s Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este.

As that name suggests, it’s a tribute to the 3.0 CSL lightweight homologation special which first appeared in 1972.

Certain elements such as the roof-mounted spoiler and large rear wing provide obvious visual links between the two cars. The 3.0 CSL Hommage definitely isn’t just a pastiche, though.

Among the modern interpretation’s distinctive features are its widened front wheel arches. Shaped to optimise air flow along the flanks, they appear to (somewhat weirdly) wrap over the bonnet.

BMW hasn’t given any indication of the 3.0 CSL Hommage’s theoretic performance potential. In fact, the only technical snippet released is that power comes from a six-cylinder engine and an eBoost hybrid system.
