2016 Nissan NP300 Navara first view

Nissan has revealed the all-new European-specification NP300 Navara. Compared to its predecessor, comfort and refinement levels are claimed to be much improved, but the pick-up's off-road ability remains.

There's a choice of Double Cab and King Cab versions. Interestingly, the former features a sophisticated five-link rear suspension set-up for better ride and handling, while the latter retains a simpler leaf spring arrangement.

One diesel engine is being offered in two states of tune. It's a 2.3 litre, four-cylinder unit that produces either 158 bhp (118 kW / 160 PS) or, thanks to twin turbochargers, 187 bhp (140 kW / 190 PS). Transmission options comprise six-speed manual and seven-speed automatic gearboxes, which can be mated with either two- or four-wheel drive.

The variety of equipment and technology further reflects that Nissan has made an effort to make the 2016 NP300 Navara more car-like. Among the available items are dual-zone climate control, an Around View Monitor, a rear-view reversing camera, LED headlights, keyless entry and Forward Emergency Braking.

UK prices and final trim levels have yet to be announced, but a five-year (or 100,000 mile) manufacturer warranty is going to be standard.
