Honda establishes a new niche with the X-ADV

Witnessing the arrival of a genuinely different type of motorcycle is a rare event. So the launch of Honda's new X-ADV (and, crucially, how customers react) should get plenty of attention.

Based on last year's City Adventure concept, it's essentially an adventure-style bike that features a 745 cc parallel-twin engine from the NC750 range and, unusually for this category, a dual-clutch transmission.

Intended to be an all-rounder, the X-ADV comes with long-travel suspension and a five-stage adjustable windscreen. An upright riding position and built-in helmet storage further add to the practicality proposition.

The 2017 Honda X-ADV is due to be unveiled at the EICMA show in November. More technical details will be released prior to the model's debut.
