Jeep launches the Wrangler Rubicon Recon

Jeep dealers in the UK are now taking customer orders for the Wrangler Rubicon Recon special edition. Based on the existing Rubicon trim grade, it's available in both two- and four-door guises.

Identifying features include a vented 'Power Dome' bonnet with unique Rubicon decals, low-gloss granite-coloured 18” wheels, a black rigid spare wheel cover and the Dual Top roof package that comprises a 'Freedom' modular hard top and a 'Sunrider' soft top.

Inside, a usually optional touchscreen-controlled Uconnect infotainment and navigation system is fitted as standard. Some contrast for the black leather upholstery is provided by the stitching, seatbelts and storage nets, which are all red.

The Rubicon Recon isn't just about cosmetic and equipment upgrades, though. Off-road ability will be better too, thanks to a stronger front axle, a heavy-duty cast rear differential cover and tougher rock rails.

Compared to the regular Rubicon variants, prices are £4,300 higher. Consequently, the Rubicon Recon two-door costs £40,505 and the four-door sells for £42,175.
