2018/2019 Formula E calendar announced

Season five of the FIA Formula E Championship will comprise thirteen rounds.

While Saudi Arabia is set to become a new host country, Great Britain is once again missing from the schedule. As things stand, there won’t be any events in South America, but a spare slot in January could be used to fix that surprising omission.

Several innovations being planned for 2018/2019 should result in a very different spectacle.

Key among them is the introduction of improved Gen2 cars. With twice the battery capacity of their predecessors, the need for drivers to swap cars mid-race disappears.

Furthermore, passing through a clearly-marked ‘activation zone’ is going to temporarily increase output from 268 bhp (200 kW / 271 PS) to 301 bhp (225 kW / 305 PS). Fans of Fanboost need not worry though, because it still remains.
