2019 Colorado ZR2 Bison revealed

Chevrolet has collaborated with American Expedition Vehicles to create the Bison, a more extreme version of its Colorado ZR2 mid-size pick-up.

The additional components focus on providing more protection for the truck when traversing rough terrain. Accordingly, Boron steel skid plates shield the oil sump, front differential, transfer case, fuel tank and rear differential.

Tougher pressed steel bumpers are fitted too. The front one incorporates fog lights and space for a winch, while the rear unit has built-in recovery points.

Other identifying features include unique 17” x 8” alloy wheels shod with Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac tyres, larger arch extensions, a redesigned grille and some special decals. Inside, the floor mats and front head restraints gain ‘AEV’ embroidery.

Bison customers are going to have a choice of either crew cab / short bed or extended cab / long bed configurations. As per the regular Colorado ZR2, both the 308 bhp (230 kW / 312 PS) 3.6 litre V6 gasoline and the 181 bhp (135 kW / 183 PS) 2.8 litre I4 Duramax diesel engines will be available.

Sales are due to begin this January.
