Chevrolet mixes old and new for SEMA 2018

At this year’s SEMA Show in Las Vegas, Chevrolet Performance wants to demonstrate how its crate engines can be used in restomod projects. Accordingly, three of the brand’s classic vehicles have been renovated and fitted with present-day powertrains.

The oldest is a 1967 C/10 pick-up that features a fuel-injected ZZ6 5.7 litre V8 developing 420 bhp (313 kW / 425 PS). Other upgrades include custom bumpers, a redesigned tailgate, lowered suspension and a set of 20” wheels.

A 1973 Chevelle Laguna boasts 755 bhp (563 kW / 765 PS) plus 715 lb/ft (969 Nm) of peak torque, thanks to an LT5 6.2 litre supercharged V8. Spoilers, 18” wheels and improved handling pay homage to this model’s NASCAR heritage, while the carbon fibre bonnet treatment is inspired by the current Corvette ZR1.

Completing the trio is a 1978 Silverado. This particular full-size truck gains a fuel-injected L96 6.0 litre V8 and a four-speed automatic transmission with overdrive. Output and torque are rated at 360 bhp (268 kW / 365 PS) and 380 lb/ft (515 Nm) respectively.
