Mégane R.S. 300 Trophy versus Civic Type R
Renault has confirmed prices and specifications for the new Mégane R.S. 300 Trophy, which is now available to order.
There are several enhancements compared to a regular Mégane R.S. 280. As well as an extra 20 horsepower, the superior Renault Sport model gains lightweight 19” ‘Jerez’ alloy wheels shod with Bridgestone Potenza S001 tyres, 355 mm bi-material front brake discs and a revised exhaust that incorporates a sound-altering mechanical valve in the rear silencer.
Also fitted as standard is the Cup chassis package. This is claimed to deliver better handling thanks to a Torsen mechanical limited-slip differential, firmer dampers, stiffer springs and thicker anti-roll bars.
Given the budget required to buy a Mégane R.S. 300 Trophy and its performance potential, the Honda Civic Type R is an obvious rival.
Indeed, as the data below shows, Renault seems to have done some serious benchmarking.
