Seat launches the Mii Electric

In July, Seat is going to stop offering its Mii city car with an internal combustion engine. Afterwards, the only available variant will be the new Mii Electric, which is essentially the same car as the recently-announced Škoda CitigoE iV.

Accordingly, power comes from an electric motor that produces 81 bhp (61 kW / 83 PS) with 212 Nm (156 lb/ft) of instant torque. Top speed is 80 mph (130 km/h).

Such modest performance should actually be quite a good thing, given the underfloor lithium-ion battery pack’s middling 36.8 kWh capacity. Indeed, according to the WLTP cycle, range is an unexceptional 161 miles (260 kilometres).

As with the Škoda, recharging won’t be a fast operation. For example, replenishing to 80% using a dedicated 7.2 kW AC wall box takes around four hours.

Seat plans to build the Mii Electric solely in five-door form. Standard equipment for the UK market will include 16” alloy wheels, heated front sports seats, cruise control, rear parking sensors, lane-keeping assistance and a traffic sign recognition function.

Dealers are due to begin accepting Mii Electric orders in the autumn, ahead of the first deliveries during the first quarter of 2020. Seat hasn’t confirmed pricing yet.
