The Bentley Number 1 Edition by Mulliner

Bentley has created another limited edition to help commemorate the brand’s centenary. The new Continental GT Convertible Number 1 Edition by Mulliner pays tribute to the famous No. 1 4½ Litre ‘Blower’ of 1929. Driven by Sir Henry ‘Tim’ Birkin, that unique racing car set an Outer Circuit lap record at Brooklands in 1932.

Customers are able to opt for either Dragon Red II or Beluga (black) paintwork. Furthermore, they have a choice of Claret or Beluga for the fabric roof, while the 22” MDS alloy wheels can be ordered with a Cricket Ball (dark red) or Gloss Black finish.

A Centenary Pack, a Carbon Body Kit and the Bentley Black Line Specification package are all fitted as standard. In addition, bespoke exterior elements include gold-plated fender badges and a prominent ‘1’ motif on the front grille.

There’s a lot going on inside. Cricket Ball or Beluga leather upholstery is complemented by Grand Black wood veneer and, on the centre console, ‘Engine Spin’ turned aluminium. The steering wheel and gear knob are covered in Alcantara, the ‘organ stop’ switches are gold-plated and a British Jaeger clock repeats the ‘1’ graphic on its face.

As a finishing touch, the middle dial on the dashboard’s Rotating Display features a small replica wheel spinner set in resin. Being cast from a piston taken out of old No. 1’s engine during restoration, this curio provides a tangible link to the past.

Just 100 examples of the Number 1 Edition by Mulliner will be built.
