Abarth has launched an updated 595 Pista

There are already plenty of 595 variants available, but that hasn’t stopped Abarth introducing another one. The latest, which revives the Pista name, is recognisable by its green highlights and dark graphite 17” alloy wheels.

However, this edition isn’t just a cosmetic exercise. Although power still comes from the familiar 1.4 litre, four-cylinder T-Jet petrol engine, a new lower-compression Garrett turbocharger and the Record Monza Active exhaust are fitted. Peak output and torque are consequently rated at 162 bhp (121 kW / 165 PS) and 230 Nm (169 lb/ft) respectively.

With a five-speed manual gearbox, the 595 Pista can accelerate from rest to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 7.3 seconds before reaching a top speed of 135 mph (218 km/h). More relevant to real-world driving is the 50 to 75 mph (80 to 120 km/h) increment, which takes 7.8 seconds.

The official combined cycle fuel economy figure is 41.5 mpg (6.8 l/100km), while CO2 emissions are 155 g/km. Alternatively, the five-speed MTA robotised sequential transmission achieves 43.4 mpg (6.5 l/100km) and 149 g/km with hardly any performance loss.

Also included in the specification are Frequency Selective Damping and a Koni rear suspension set-up. A standard Uconnect infotainment system combines a 7” high-definition touchscreen, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility, a DAB radio, navigation and a telemetry function. Special ‘Sabelt 70’ front seats are among the cost options being offered.

In the UK, 595 Pista prices start at £19,135. Abarth dealers are accepting orders now.
