All-new 2020 Nissan Juke first view

With its exaggerated wheel arches, high waistline and quirky front-end styling, few cars divided opinion like the original Nissan Juke. All of those design elements remain on the just-revealed second-generation model, but they’ve been toned down a bit (which should broaden the Juke’s appeal).

A change in dimensions has resulted in subtly altered proportions. Compared to the previous version overall length is up from 4,135 mm (13’ 7”) to 4,210 mm (13’ 10”), while height has increased by only 30 mm (1”) to 1,595 mm (5’ 3”). A ‘floating roof’ emphasises the revised profile of the Juke, which Nissan now describes as a coupé crossover.

Importantly, interior space is more generous than before, especially in the rear. A bigger boot capacity of 422 litres represents a 20% gain, too.

The dashboard features soft-touch surfaces and, on most trim grades, a centrally-mounted 8” touchscreen for the NissanConnect infotainment system. Standard across the range is a suite of safety technologies that includes intelligent emergency braking, lane keeping assistance and traffic sign recognition. Also being offered is ProPILOT, Nissan’s semi-autonomous driving solution that can control acceleration, braking and steering within a single lane.

When European deliveries begin in late November, the sole available engine will be a 1.0 litre, three-cylinder, turbocharged petrol unit. It produces 115 bhp (86 kW / 117 PS) with peak torque of 180 Nm (132 lb/ft), or 200 Nm (147 lb/ft) on overboost. Customers can specify either a six-speed manual gearbox or a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
