Peugeot Partner Alpin Camper launched
One of the smallest vehicles to be unveiled at the 2019 Düsseldorf Caravan Salon was the Peugeot Partner Alpin Camper. Indeed, an overall body length of just 4.75 metres (15’ 7”) should mean that driving and parking this compact van are stress-free experiences.
The conversion, which is carried out in Bavaria, appears to be simple but well executed. A side-facing sofa transforms into a double bed measuring 1.95 metres (6’ 4”) by 1.12 metres (3’ 8”), while underneath there’s enough space to accommodate a compressor fridge.
Installed opposite is a slim kitchen unit. This houses a stove (fuelled by gas cartridges), a sink and tanks for both fresh and waste water.
For added comfort, the walls and ceiling are fully lined and insulated, plus the specification includes an auxiliary heater that’s controlled via an LCD panel. Also, the plywood floor is water repellent and a dedicated leisure battery is fitted.
Such compact dimensions do have their disadvantages, though. Clearly the habitation area is going to be rather cramped, storage is limited and off-grid camping for more than a couple of days could be challenging. Disappointingly, the maximum number of belted travel seats is three (and they’re all in the cab), so the Partner Alpin Camper might not be able to replace the family car.
