A Škoda Scala spider concept car is coming
Twenty apprentices from the Škoda Academy in Mladá Boleslav have been busy creating the company’s latest ‘Student Car’. Their work continues the annual tradition of designing and hand-building a one-off concept, which dates back to 2014.
As the first sketches show, this year’s project is an open-top, two-seat spider version of the Scala compact hatchback. Undoubtedly, removing the roof and losing the rear doors will have involved some major structural changes to maintain the body’s strength and rigidity. From a styling perspective, the rear deck with its distinctive twin cowls is arguably the most significant element.
The completed Scala spider concept is due to be named and unveiled in June.
