Triumph Scrambler 1200 Bond Edition revealed

‘No Time To Die’ – the 25th James Bond film – has had its release date delayed until at least November, for obvious social-distancing reasons. Nevertheless, fans of the franchise can already order a special Triumph motorcycle which was inspired by the movie’s bike scenes.

The appropriately-named Scrambler 1200 Bond Edition is based on the existing Scrambler 1200 XE. A dark look combines Sapphire Black paintwork, brushed foil knee pads, gold pinstripes and some prominent tank decals. Furthermore, the mudguards, swing-arm, grab rail and sump guard are among the components that gain a black anodised finish.

There are several other unique features, too. They include a stainless steel headlight grille, fog lights, a leather-covered saddle, a number board and an Arrow exhaust silencer with carbon fibre end caps. The ‘007’ motif is stamped into the lower-side panel, plus it appears on the TFT instrument display’s start-up screen.

Full LED lighting, heated handlebar grips, cruise control, traction control, keyless ignition and a USB charging point are also fitted as standard. Power comes from the usual 1,200 cc parallel-twin engine that delivers 89 bhp (66 kW / 90 PS) and 110 Nm (81 lb/ft) of peak torque via a six-speed gearbox.

Triumph intends to build just 250 examples of the Bond Edition. The UK on-the-road starting price has been set at £18,500, which is £6,200 above what a regular Scrambler 1200 XE costs. A huge premium to pay, in other words.

Honda WSB team launch

Honda has unveiled its works team for the 2011 World Superbike championship . The announcement of Castrol as title sponsor means the return to a very familiar colour scheme for the pair of CBR1000RR Fireblade bikes, which will be ridden by Jonathan Rea and Ruben Xaus. As in recent years, Honda has entrusted Dutch concern Ten Kate Racing with running the factory WSB team. First thing on the Castrol Honda agenda is a two day testing session at the Motorland Aragón circuit in Spain later this week. The 2011 WSB season comprises thirteen rounds with Phillip Island, Australia hosting the opening race on 27 February.
