Pricing for the electric 2021 Fiat 500 hatchback
Fiat has begun accepting reservations for the all-new electric Fiat 500 hatchback. As per the convertible model – which was announced in March – availability will be restricted initially to a special launch edition called La Prima.
Unsurprisingly, technical specifications for the two body styles are identical. Power comes from an electric motor that produces 116 bhp (87 kW / 118 PS), resulting in a 0-62 mph (100 km/h) time of 9.0 seconds. The car’s top speed is limited to 93 mph (150 km/h).
Energy is stored in a 42 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. Definitive range figures have yet to be released, but according to Fiat “up to” 199 miles (320 kilometres) is possible.
Because the 500 can accept inputs of up to 85 kW, replenishing a flat battery to 80% capacity takes a relatively quick 35 minutes via a public fast-charging facility. A 3 kW ‘easyWallbox’ is supplied for domestic use, but the optional 7.4 kW version is certainly going to be more practical.
Standard equipment on the 500 La Prima includes LED headlights, 17” diamond-cut alloy wheels, a panoramic sunroof and a choice of Celestial Blue, Ocean Green or Mineral Grey paintwork. As well as ‘eco-leather’ upholstery, the interior features a 10.25” touchscreen and a UConnect 5 infotainment system that’s compatible with both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
Numerous assistance technologies are fitted, too. Indeed, the presence of Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Centring and Intelligent Speed Assist means that Level 2 autonomous driving is feasible.
However, the 500 La Prima hatchback is an expensive proposition. After deducting the government’s £3,500 Plug-in Car Grant, UK on-the-road prices start at £26,995.
