Suzuki will be equipping every Across with a plug-in hybrid powertrain and E-Four electronic four-wheel drive.

Based around a 182 bhp (136 kW / 185 PS) 2.5 litre, four-cylinder petrol engine, the set-up also includes a 179 bhp (134 kW / 182 PS) front-axle electric motor, a 53 bhp (40 kW / 54 PS) rear-axle electric motor, a continuously-variable automatic transmission, and a 18.1 kWh under-floor lithium-ion battery.

Maximum range in the default pure-electric EV mode is a modest 46 miles (75 kilometres). Alternatively, the Auto EV/HV and HV settings deploy the combustion engine as required, while the Battery Charger function uses it full-time. Average CO2 emissions are just 22 g/km according to the WLTP measure.

Prices and final specifications have yet to be announced.
