Audi introduces the TTS Competition Plus

Compared to a regular Audi TTS, the new Competition Plus variant gains extra power and some cosmetic upgrades.

Output from the 2.0 litre TFSI engine has been increased by 14 bhp (10 kW / 14 PS) to 315 bhp (235 kW / 320 PS), but peak torque remains at 400 Nm (295 lb-ft). Quattro permanent all-wheel drive and a seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch transmission come as standard, of course.

Interestingly, the official 0-62 mph (100 km/h) times – 4.5 and 4.8 seconds for the Coupé and Roadster respectively – are no quicker than usual, which suggests that any performance benefits only reveal themselves in the more important mid-range. Top speed for both body styles is still electronically limited to 155 mph (250 km/h), too.

Visually, the Competition Plus is differentiated by a set of gloss black ten-spoke 20” wheels (up from 19”), red brake calipers, a fixed rear wing (instead of a retractable one), and black four-ring Audi badges. Buyers will have a choice of Turbo Blue, Chronos Grey, Tango Red or Glacier White paintwork.

Depending on the exterior colour, the black Nappa leather upholstery and flat-bottomed steering wheel feature either blue or red contrast stitching. The theme continues with a blue, grey or red finish on the seat and centre console trim pieces.

TTS Competition Plus deliveries are due to begin in Germany during January 2021. There, the Coupé’s estimated starting price is €61,000 (including VAT), while the Roadster should cost from around €63,700. Availability in the UK seems unlikely at this stage.
