Nissan creates the e-NV200 Winter Camper

“Ideal for winter expeditions” is how Nissan describes its pure-electric e-NV200 Winter Camper concept vehicle. That claim is debatable, though.

For instance, while the ride height has been raised and Maxxis off-road tyres are fitted, there’s no all-wheel drive. Adventures would consequently be restricted to less arduous terrain only.

Staying cosy inside this compact van during freezing weather might also be a major challenge. Nissan appears to have omitted a dedicated heating system and extra insulation from the specification, plus any warmth generated is likely to rapidly escape through the thin fabric sides of the elevating roof.

Even the top-mounted solar panel (which feeds a 220V on-board power pack) is going to be of limited use during short days with little sunlight.

All things considered, the e-NV200 Winter Camper actually seems best-suited for summer trips away.

Honda WSB team launch

Honda has unveiled its works team for the 2011 World Superbike championship . The announcement of Castrol as title sponsor means the return to a very familiar colour scheme for the pair of CBR1000RR Fireblade bikes, which will be ridden by Jonathan Rea and Ruben Xaus. As in recent years, Honda has entrusted Dutch concern Ten Kate Racing with running the factory WSB team. First thing on the Castrol Honda agenda is a two day testing session at the Motorland Aragón circuit in Spain later this week. The 2011 WSB season comprises thirteen rounds with Phillip Island, Australia hosting the opening race on 27 February.
