Husqvarna launches the Svartpilen 125

Husqvarna is expanding its range with the introduction of the Svartpilen 125. Aimed primarily at novice riders, this all-new learner-legal motorcycle combines distinctive styling and a decent specification.

Built around a black powder-coated steel trellis frame, power comes from a single-cylinder, liquid-cooled 125 cc engine that’s mated to a six-speed close-ratio transmission. Peak output is rated at 15 PS (15 bhp / 11 kW).

The suspension set-up comprises a WP Apex open-cartridge fork at the front, plus a WP Apex Monoshock unit a the rear. 17” wire-spoked wheels are shod with Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR tyres, and each gets a disc brake with a ByBre caliper. A Bosch two-channel anti-lock system is fitted, too.

Among the bike’s other components are an LED headlight, a digital instrument display and CNC-machined footrests.

Although the weight without fuel is a manageable 146 kg (321 lb), the relatively tall seat height of 835 mm (32.8”) might put off some prospective buyers. So could a UK starting price of £4,499.

The 2021 Svartpilen 125 is available now.
