Phantom Tempus Collection unveiled
According to Rolls-Royce, “time, astronomical phenomena and the infinite reaches of the universe” were the inspiration for its new Tempus Collection. The brand’s latest limited-edition Phantom is aptly named, because tempus is the Latin word for time.
On the outside, a subtly-sparkling Bespoke mica paint called Kairos Blue is complemented by black details. The car’s most striking features are found inside, though.
A unique ‘Pulsar Headliner’ incorporates fibre-optic lighting and embroidery, for instance. The celestial theme continues with illuminated perforations on the leather-covered door cards.
Apparently, “Rolls-Royce clients are not bound by time” (lucky them), so a clock is purposely omitted. Instead, the dashboard is adorned with a ‘Frozen Flow of Time’ Gallery. This is a single billet of black-anodised aluminium that has been milled to show 100 columns in relief, to represent the 100-million-year rotational spin period of a pulsar star.
The specification also includes a Tempus Champagne Chest, which boasts hand-painted artwork on the top surface. As a finishing touch, a significant date and location can be engraved on the base of the bonnet-mounted Spirit of Ecstasy.
Rolls-Royce intends to build just 20 examples of the Phantom Tempus Collection. All have been allocated to customers already.
