Mercedes-AMG GT Track Series unveiled

As part of its ongoing 55th anniversary celebrations, Mercedes-AMG has created the GT Track Series limited edition.

This special circuit-only model takes the Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series and adds numerous upgrades. For instance, the exterior gains forged 18” wheels, carbon fibre body panels, a larger bonnet air outlet, an extrication hatch in the roof, and an adjustable rear wing.

A stripped-out interior features a high-tensile steel roll cage and a fire extinguisher system. The driver – who is secured by a five-point safety harness in a motorsport-inspired seat – faces a unique steering wheel and a configurable Bosch DDU 11 instrument display with data logging functionality.

Power comes from an enhanced 4.0-litre V8 biturbo engine, which is mated to a rear-mounted Hewland HLS six-speed sequential transmission via a carbon fibre torque tube.

Although performance figures haven’t been disclosed, they should be impressive. That’s because the GT Track Series combines 734 PS (724 bhp / 540 kW) and 850 Nm (626 lb-ft) of peak torque with a low 1,400 kg (3,086 lb) kerb weight.

Unsurprisingly, the chassis has also received attention. Adjustable anti-roll bars and Bilstein dampers are fitted, plus the traction control and ABS settings are optimised for the car’s intended use.

Just 55 examples of the GT Track Series are available worldwide, and all sales will be handled directly by Mercedes-AMG’s headquarters in Affalterbach.
