Saleen S351 announced

Back in April, Steve Saleen regained control of the automotive brand that bears his name. Now the first new product since that momentous change has been revealed - the Mustang-based Saleen S351.

As is customary, the S351 nameplate refers to the cubic-inch capacity of the V8 engine, which translates to 5.75 litres. Equipped with a Saleen 296 supercharger and connected to a six-speed transmission, its claimed outputs are a considerable 700 bhp (522 kW / 710 PS) with 888 Nm (655 lb/ft) of torque.

Although performance figures have yet to be published, the package is also going to include more powerful brakes, upgraded suspension and 20” five-spoke alloy wheels.

Among the identifying features of the S351 will be a front splitter, side skirts and rear diffuser, all of which are made from carbon fibre. The redesigned bonnet incorporates Saleen’s Red Butterfly Center Ram Air Induction system, which just seems like a convoluted way of saying it has a fancy air intake…

Pricing and availability have yet to be confirmed.
