Fiat 500 1957 Edition

The new limited production Fiat 500 1957 Edition has a particular feature that’s found on too few cars nowadays: body-colour wheels.

Unashamedly retro, its look has been inspired by the original Nuova Cinquecento of 1957. Reinforcing that mood is the paintwork selection which consists of Bianco (white), Verde Chiaro (light green) or Celeste (pale blue). All come with a white finish for the roof panel and door mirror caps, thereby giving those last two choices a dual-tone effect.

The theme continues on the inside, where Marrone (brown) leather upholstery is matched with Avorio (ivory) trim panels and seat stitching. The same whitish shade also appears on the leather-wrapped steering wheel.

Based on the existing Lounge trim grade, the 1957 Edition is fitted with sports suspension. Power is provided by a 1.4 litre MultiAir engine connected to a five-speed manual gearbox, although a six-speed automatic transmission will be on the options list.

Availability of this special Fiat 500 is being restricted to North America. Sales are due to begin there in spring 2014, but there’s no word yet on pricing.
