2014 Mercedes-Benz V-Class unveiled

Mercedes has taken the wraps off its new V-Class full-size multi-purpose vehicle.

With seating for up to eight people the van-based, Spanish-built V-Class is aimed at business users, larger families and anybody with an active lifestyle. To help reach such a broad audience, it’ll be sold via Mercedes’ car and commercial vehicle dealer networks.

Included in the specification are a separately-opening tailgate window, Crosswind Assist and the fatigue-detecting Attention Assist device. The options list is extensive though, as would be expected. Among the customisation items are various seating configurations, a 360° camera, adaptive cruise control, full LED lights, active parking, Agility Control variable damping and three infotainment systems.

From launch just one engine is going to be available: a 2.1 litre, four-cylinder, common-rail turbodiesel that drives the rear wheels. However, buyers will have three outputs to pick from.
