2017 Caterham Seven 310 unveiled

Compared to the existing Seven 270, the new Seven 310 benefits from an extra 17 bhp (13 kW / 18 PS). That increase – which results from revised mapping and high-performance camshafts – takes output from the 1.6 litre Ford Sigma engine up to 152 bhp (113 kW / 154 PS).

This additional variant is, according to Caterham, “the perfect balance of power and confidence-inspiring handling characteristics.” Indeed, Simon Lambert, the company's Chief Motorsport and Technical Officer, said, “If Caterham was only going to make one car for the rest of its days, this would be it.”

Prices for a fully-built Seven 310 start at £24,995. Orders are being accepted now, but deliveries won't begin until the start of 2017.

The good news for Seven 270 owners is that they haven't been forgotten, because their cars can have the same upgrades retro-fitted for £1,495.

Honda WSB team launch

Honda has unveiled its works team for the 2011 World Superbike championship . The announcement of Castrol as title sponsor means the return to a very familiar colour scheme for the pair of CBR1000RR Fireblade bikes, which will be ridden by Jonathan Rea and Ruben Xaus. As in recent years, Honda has entrusted Dutch concern Ten Kate Racing with running the factory WSB team. First thing on the Castrol Honda agenda is a two day testing session at the Motorland Aragón circuit in Spain later this week. The 2011 WSB season comprises thirteen rounds with Phillip Island, Australia hosting the opening race on 27 February.
