Hymer introduces two CrossOver 4x4 campers
Hymer’s new CrossOver editions are designed for off-grid stays in remote places. One takes the existing Grand Canyon S camper van as its starting point, while the other is a modified version of the ML-T 570 semi-integrated coachbuilt motorhome.
Both vehicles are based on the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 419 CDI that delivers 190 PS (187 bhp / 140 kW) via a seven-speed automatic transmission.
As standard, they come with part-time four-wheel drive, a raised ride height, an engine protection plate, all-terrain tyres, electronic differential locks and revised gear ratios.
An ‘autonomy package’ is also included to help enhance self-sufficiency. This comprises a roof-mounted 90-watt solar panel (increased to two panels on the ML-T 570), as well as the Hymer Smart Battery System which utilises lithium cells. In addition to an electric bar heater, there’s a 6 kW diesel heater with an ‘altitude kit’ to ensure proper operation even in alpine regions.
The interior layouts are unaltered, but the overhead lockers gain anthracite-coloured doors plus mesh storage pockets beneath them.
In Germany, prices for the Grand Canyon S CrossOver start at €106,990, and the ML-T 570 CrossOver costs from €122,990. Hymer dealers are accepting orders now.
