Škoda Kushaq mid-size SUV launched in India

As part of its India 2.0 product strategy, Škoda has introduced the Kushaq. At 4,221 mm (13’ 10”) long and 1,760 mm (5’ 9”) wide, this new SUV is about the same size as the B-segment Kamiq that’s currently sold in Europe.

However, the Kushaq sits on a dedicated MQB-A0-IN platform which has been specially adapted for India. Consequently, the interior accommodates five people, luggage capacity is 385 litres, and ground clearance is a practical 188 mm (7.4”).

Active, Ambition and Style trim grades are going to be offered. Their standard specifications include:

A straightforward engine line-up comprises a pair of petrol units. The 1.0 TSI produces 115 PS (113 bhp / 85 kW), but the more powerful 1.5 TSI boasts an increased output of 150 PS (148 bhp / 110 kW).

They both come with front-wheel drive and a six-speed manual gearbox. Alternatively, a six-speed automatic transmission is available for the 1.0 TSI, while the 1.5 TSI can be mated to a seven-speed DSG dual-clutch transmission instead.

The Kushaq will be manufactured in Pune, India. Škoda dealers are due to begin accepting customer orders in June, ahead of the first deliveries in July.
