Stunning Ferrari J50 unveiled

Just ten examples of the new Ferrari J50 are going to be built. Each will be tailored to its owner's requirements, and all are undoubtedly destined to become instantly collectable.

As that J50 designation suggests, this product of Ferrari's Special Projects team has been created to celebrate fifty years since the brand first arrived in Japan.

Beneath the restyled bodywork is a 488 Spider. The modifications aren't merely limited to bespoke panels, though. One particularly significant structural alteration concerns the reduced-height windscreen header rail, which has to help support a removable two-piece carbon fibre targa roof.

Several other notable changes differentiate the J50. For example, there's a lower central bonnet section at the front, while the rear end gains a unique transparent polycarbonate engine cover. Visually linking those elements is a prominent beltline that rises towards the back of the car.

Like the 488, power comes from a turbocharged 3.9 litre V8. However, for the J50, output has been specially increased from the usual 660 bhp (492 kW / 670 PS) to 680 bhp (507 kW / 690 PS).
