UK prices for the 2019 Kia Niro
Kia dealers are now accepting orders for the refreshed Niro. This compact crossover – which is still offered in Hybrid and Plug-In Hybrid guises – has received a mild design update and some specification enhancements.
On the outside, the grille, bumpers and light clusters are all new. Inside, a more premium environment is promised thanks to better materials and soft-touch surfaces.
While the entry-level ‘2’ trim grade makes do with a centrally-mounted 8” touchscreen for the infotainment functions, the ‘3’ and ‘4’ variants gain a 10.25” item. The bigger display is also intended to work with Uvo Connect, a recently-introduced telematics system that uses an on-board SIM card to access real-time information about traffic conditions, local fuel prices and various other things. There’s a Uvo smartphone app, too.
Appearing for the first time are an electronic handbrake, larger rear brakes and steering wheel paddles to manually control the standard six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. An improved range of driver aids includes Lane Following Assist, which automates the acceleration, braking and steering when travelling along a motorway.
