Ariel launches Atom 3.5

Ariel has revealed the latest incarnation of its minimalist Atom. As the suffix implies, the 3.5 version is a development of the Atom 3 and it features both technical and cosmetic updates.

A revised chassis incorporates tweaks previously seen on the Mugen Limited Edition and V8-powered models, which means improved torsional rigidity and stiffness. To help make the most of those changes, the dampers have been recalibrated and there are different engine mounts.

Ariel Atom 3.5 (2013) Instruments

Visually, the Atom 3.5 is identifiable by its new twin projector headlights and the used of LEDs for the indicators and rear lights. There is also a slightly restyled bonnet section, plus a new LCD instrument display that can be augmented by a data logger for track use.

Power continues to come from a 2.0 litre Honda iVTEC that develops 245 bhp (182 kW / 248 PS) in normally-aspirated form, or 315 bhp (234 kW / 319 PS) when equipped with the optional supercharger.

Alfa Romeo stunned visitors to the 2002 Geneva International Motor Show with the Brera concept. The gorgeous looks might have eventually made it into production, but excessive weight, so-so performance and below par chassis dynamics sadly meant the showroom Brera was ultimately rather disappointing. Kawasaki W800 revealed

19 January 2011 Update: For confirmed Kawasaki W800 pricing, please click here . Kawasaki has unveiled its retro W800 at the Cologne Intermot motorcycle show. There are a few differences between this production-ready version and first image of the W800 , which was released last month. The most obvious is that the limey-green paint has been ditched, replaced by a much more attractive dark green and silver metallic colour scheme. Other changes include the seat unit, which looks a bit plusher but loses its contrast piping around the edge. There are now knee pads on each side of the fuel tank, too, that sit just behind very large chrome ‘W’ emblems. No surprises in the engine department - it’s an air-cooled twin with a capacity of 773 cc, driving through a five-speed gearbox.
