Volkswagen Amarok limited edition

Volkswagen has unveiled a special version of its Amarok pick-up for the UK market. Called simply the Amarok Edition, clearly the marketing department couldn’t be bothered coming up a more imaginative name.

Based on the existing Trendline trim grade, it’s distinguished by some unique decals, a set of 18” ‘Durban’ alloy wheels, rear privacy glass and black load area styling bars. The specification also includes a touchscreen-controlled navigation system, Bluetooth connectivity, parking sensors front and rear, floor mats and a choice of Deep Black or Reflex Silver paintwork.

The only engine option being offered is the 2.0 litre BiTDI bi-turbo diesel that produces 177 bhp (132 kW / 180 PS). It comes connected to either a six-speed manual gearbox with selectable 4Motion all-wheel drive or an eight-speed automatic transmission with permanent 4Motion.

Sales of the Amarok Edition begin next month, but just 300 examples are going to be available. The manual variant is priced at £22,495 (excluding VAT), while the automatic model costs an extra £1,730.
