ABT creates a 700 horsepower Audi RS 7

With 552 bhp (412 kW / 560 PS), the standard specification Audi RS 7 Sportback isn’t lacking in power. But that hasn’t stopped German tuning firm ABT Sportsline from launching an upgrade programme for the car.

The focus has been on the RS 7’s 4.0 litre biturbo V8 engine. Changes to its engine management system see output increasing to 656 bhp (490 kW / 666 PS), while peak torque rises from 700 Nm (516 lb/ft) to 830 Nm (612 lb/ft).

As a result, the 0-62 mph (100 km/h) time drops by 0.3 to 3.6 seconds and the electronic speed limiter kicks in at 186 mph (300 km/h) instead of the usual 155 mph (250 km/h). In Germany the price (excluding fitting) is €6,909, or roughly £5,770 at current exchange rates.

However, if that’s not quite enough, further mapping tweaks and the addition of ABT’s stainless steel exhaust system give 690 bhp (515 kW / 700 PS) with 880 Nm (649 lb/ft). That’s sufficient to propel the RS 7 from rest to 62 mph in just 3.4 seconds, before taking it to a top speed of 198 mph (320 km/h). For the extra performance buyers will have to part with €11,809, which is about £9,860.

To complete the package ABT also offers a carbon fibre rear spoiler, 20” or 21” alloy wheels and various accessories for the interior.
