2015 Dakar Rally route announced
Next year’s Dakar Rally is going to follow a vast loop that begins and ends in Buenos Aires.
The first stage takes place on the 4th of January and then the event will travel through Chile and Bolivia before finishing back in Argentina thirteen days later. As per previous years, the routes followed by each category are set to differ slightly over some of the distance. That’s mainly for safety reasons, but organisers say it also adds the spectacle.
In a slight change to the rally’s format, marathon stages (where competitors cannot use their support crews for two race days) will involve the car and truck classes in 2015 as well as the motorcycles and quads.
Entries for the 2015 Dakar Rally open on the 15th of May. The exciting news is that Peugeot has already declared its intention to compete for the first time in 25 years. Carlos Sainz and Cyril Despres have been named as the team’s drivers and the 2008DKR is being specially developed for them.
