Acura NSX GT3 racer unveiled
Compared to its road-going counterpart, the new NSX GT3 features a very different powertrain in order to comply with FIA homologation rules.
While a mid-mounted, twin-turbocharged, 3.5 litre V6 engine remains, the hybrid and all-wheel drive systems have had to go. Consequently, the NSX GT3 is purely a rear-wheel drive car.
Furthermore, the showroom NSX's nine-speed dual-clutch transmission has been replaced by a six-speed sequential-shift gearbox.
Although the NSX GT3 has been launched wearing Acura badges, expect an otherwise identical Honda version to appear outside of North America. A competition debut is scheduled for 2017.
