Notarzt BMW R 1200 RT at RETTmobil 2016
BMW Motorrad has developed a special version of the R 1200 RT for notarzt (emergency doctor) duties. Intended to reduce response times in predominantly urban environments, it's going to debut at this week's RETTmobil 2016 emergency equipment trade show.
The motorcycle, which is finished in Glacier Silver paintwork, gains florescent red graphics and numerous flashing blue LED lights to visually alert other road users.
Also fitted are side-mounted protection bars, a public address system and an auxiliary battery that allows the extra electrical components to run even when the 1,170 cc twin-cylinder engine is switched off.
The most important items are at the rear. A pair of panniers contain medical gear, while a digital two-way radio set replaces the usual pillion seat.
