BMW Motorsport announces the M4 GT4
BMW Motorsport is developing a racing version of the M4 Coupé for customer teams and its own Junior Programme. This new competition car will comply with GT4 regulations, but deliveries aren't due to begin until the second half of 2017.
Such a leisurely timetable is puzzling, because the M4 GT4 uses plenty of the road-going model's components (including the engine, transmission and electronics). Furthermore, the carbon fibre bonnet is an M4 GTS item, while the brakes, seats and pedal box are taken from the M6 GT3.
Indeed, the only major bespoke parts are the front splitter, rear wing and special carbon fibre doors.
According to BMW Motorsport, the M4 GT4's first race appearance is expected to be at the 24 Hours of Dubai in January 2018. Pricing has yet to be confirmed.
