2017 Hyundai i30 Tourer first view

For plenty of car buyers, trying to impress the neighbours isn’t a priority. They just want something practical that can transport them, their families and their stuff with as little fuss as possible.

Hyundai’s new i30 Tourer should meet those requirements perfectly. This nondescript C-segment estate, which is being manufactured in the Czech Republic, is going to have its public debut at next month’s Geneva Motor Show.

Measuring 4,585 mm (15’ 1”) from bumper to bumper, the Tourer is 245 mm (10”) longer than the recently-revealed five-door hatchback version. Luggage capacities are 602 litres with the rear seats upright and 1,650 litres with them folded down.

Customers will be faced with a choice of three turbocharged engines: a 118 bhp (88 kW / 120 PS) 1.0 litre three-cylinder petrol, a 138 bhp (103 kW / 140 PS) 1.4 litre four-cylinder petrol or a 108 bhp (81 kW / 110 PS) 1.6 litre four-cylinder diesel.

For now, there’s no word on prices.
