Sauber C36-Ferrari unveiled

For its twenty-fifth season in Formula One, Sauber F1 Team has created an all-new car. The C36-Ferrari, which will be driven by Marcus Ericsson and Pascal Wehrlein, is due to debut at the first Circuit de Catalunya pre-season test session later this month.

As expected, 2017’s revised technical regulations have resulted in some significant changes compared to last season’s C35.

For instance, the front and rear wings are broader, the rear diffuser is bigger, overall width is up from 1.80 to 2.00 metres (5’ 11” to 6’ 7”) and the tyres’ breadth is increased by 25%.

Consequently, drag reduction has been a major focus, along with the seemingly incongruent goals of downforce generation and aerodynamic stability.

One thing that hasn’t been updated is the Ferrari powertrain. For the time being at least, this crucial element remains in 2016 specification.

The Sauber C36-Ferrari wears an attractive blue, white and gold livery, but there’s no title sponsor. Perhaps funds from new team owner Longbow Finance S.A. mean one isn’t required?
