The Golf Match returns for 2019

Volkswagen has decided to simplify its Golf trim grade structure. The changes – which involve the SE and SE Navigation variants being replaced by a new Match specification – affect the three-door hatchback, five-door hatchback, SV (weird ‘tall Golf’) and estate models.

Essentially, Match is very similar to the outgoing SE Navigation, but there’s some extra standard equipment. Those additional items comprise front fog lights, 16” ‘Woodstock’ diamond-cut alloy wheels, rear privacy glass and an upgraded Discover Navigation system.

Depending on the body style chosen, customers will have a choice of three TSI petrol and two TDI diesel engines. Most configurations are available with either a six-speed manual gearbox or a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

On-the-road prices range from £20,545 to £27,470. As deliveries begin next month, Volkswagen dealers are already accepting orders.
