Alpine launches the range-topping A110S
Extra power, a sharper chassis and some unique styling details define the Alpine A110S. This new version of the French two-seat coupé is due to arrive at dealers in October.
It still features a mid-mounted, 1.8 litre, four-cylinder, petrol engine and a seven-speed Getrag dual-clutch transmission. However, thanks to an increase in turbo boost pressure, output is up by 39 bhp (29 kW / 40 PS) to 288 bhp (214 kW / 292 PS). Peak torque remains unchanged at 320 Nm (236 lb/ft).
According to the usual benchmarks, performance hasn’t improved much. The 0-62 mph (100 km/h) time reduces from 4.5 to 4.4 seconds, while top speed rises from an electronically-limited 155 mph (250 km/h) to 161 mph (260 km/h). Those figures won’t tell the whole story, though.
The suspension modifications are certainly extensive. As well as 50 per cent stiffer springs, the set-up incorporates recalibrated dampers and stronger anti-roll bars. In addition, upgraded bi-material brake discs and orange Brembo calipers are fitted, plus the revised electronic stability control system can be turned off entirely.
Standard equipment includes 18” GT Race wheels shod with bespoke Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres, lightweight Sabelt seats and black Dinamica upholstery with orange stitching. A carbon fibre roof panel and Fuchs alloys are among the available cost options.
UK prices for the A110S start at £58,700 and orders are being accepted now.
