Some significant updates for the Nissan Navara

Apart from its new wheel designs, the 2019 Navara looks virtually identical to the superseded model. However, various mechanical upgrades have resulted in a pick-up that should be more capable and nicer to drive.

As before, power is provided by 2.3 litre, four-cylinder diesel engine which is offered with either 187 bhp (140 kW / 190 PS) or 160 bhp (120 kW / 163 PS). Thanks to the addition of a second turbocharger, peak torque from the lower-output version has risen by 22 Nm (16 lb/ft) to 425 Nm (313 lb/ft).

Crucially, both options are compliant with the latest Euro 6d-temp emission regulations, plus they gain an improved six-speed manual transmission that has longer gear ratios and a shorter shift pattern.

Braking performance is going to be much better, too. The rear drums have been replaced by discs, while the front discs are slightly bigger than before.

Also gone is the crude leaf spring rear suspension previously fitted to the two-door King Cab variants. Consequently, every Navara now features a multi-link set-up as standard. As well as delivering superior ride and handling characteristics, this enhancement increases payload by up to 46 kg (101 lbs).

Prices for the 2019 Navara start at £21,850 (excluding VAT, Vehicle Excise Duty and First Registration Fee).
