Fiat 500X Sport unveiled
With its new 500X Sport, Fiat is targeting crossover drivers who appreciate decent agility and handling.
Accordingly, the Sport has gained recalibrated suspension settings, Frequency Selective Damping, a reduced ride height and more responsive steering. Black 19” alloy wheels are claimed to further enhance the dynamics, but they’re a cost option.
The two available turbocharged petrol engines haven’t been modified, so performance isn’t any quicker than other 500X variants. Customers can choose either a 118 bhp (88 kW / 120 PS) 1.0 litre three-cylinder unit with a six-speed manual gearbox, or a 1.3 litre four-cylinder alternative that delivers 147 bhp (110 kW / 150 PS) via a six-speed DCT dual-clutch transmission.
Visually, the Sport is distinguished by full LED headlights, body-coloured side skirts and wheel arch extensions, titanium grey door mirror caps and handles, and a rear diffuser. If desired, a black roof can be specified to create a two-tone look.
As well as black fabric and ‘techno-leather’ upholstery, the special interior features a flat-bottom steering wheel, a titanium grey dashboard panel, aluminium pedals and a 7” touchscreen for the Uconnect infotainment system.
In the UK, on-the-road prices for the 500X Sport start at £22,500.
