2020 Suzuki V-Strom 1050 first view
Suzuki has launched the V-Strom 1050 at the EICMA show in Milan. This new adventure-style motorcycle is going to be available in both regular and XT guises.
It’s built around a twin-spar aluminium frame to which is attached a KYB inverted front fork and an aluminium rear swingarm. The bodywork features an LED headlight, a moveable windscreen and a distinctive ‘beak’ that juts out over the front wheel. Saddle height is adjustable between 850 and 870 mm (33.5 and 34.3 inches).
Power comes from a 1,037 cc, 90° V-twin unit that complies with Euro5 emissions standards. 105 bhp (79 kW / 107 PS) and 100 Nm (73 lb/ft) of torque are delivered via a slipper clutch and a six-speed transmission, while WMTC fuel economy is rated at 57.6 mpg (4.9 l/100km). Among the bike’s rider aids are a traction control device with three settings and a choice of three engine modes.
Upgrading to the V-Strom 1050XT brings with it a significantly better standard equipment list.
For instance, the XT variant benefits from the Suzuki Intelligent Ride System. This incorporates cruise control and, thanks to a Bosch six-direction inertial measurement unit, the Motion Track Brake System. MTBS combines lean-angle sensitive ABS, variable linked braking and hill hold control.
The enhanced XT specification also includes wire-spoked wheels (instead of cast aluminium rims), LED indicators, hand guards, engine protection bars, a centre stand and luggage mounts.
Deliveries of the V-Strom 1050 and V-Strom 1050XT are due to begin in spring 2020. Prices have yet to be confirmed.
