Kawasaki has updated its Z650 for 2020

A mild facelift, some specification upgrades and a few technical changes denote the latest version of Kawasaki’s mid-size Z650.

While the steel trellis frame remains the same, the headlight cowling has been redesigned and the pillion seat is wider with deeper padding. In addition, the bike gains a new instrument binnacle that incorporates a 4.3” colour TFT screen and Bluetooth connectivity.

To complete the revised look, the mechanical bits have been given an all-black finish and there are three fresh paint schemes to choose from: Metallic Spark Black, Candy Lime Green / Metallic Spark Black or Pearl Blizzard White / Metallic Spark Black.

The powertrain still comprises a 649 cc, liquid-cooled, twin-cylinder engine and a six-speed gearbox. However, thanks to modified intake and exhaust systems, the Z650 now complies with Euro5 emissions standards. Output and peak torque are rated at 67 bhp (50 kW / 68 PS) and 64 Nm (47 lb/ft) respectively.

Sales of the 2020 model are due to begin in January next year. A UK price has yet to be announced.

Honda WSB team launch

Honda has unveiled its works team for the 2011 World Superbike championship . The announcement of Castrol as title sponsor means the return to a very familiar colour scheme for the pair of CBR1000RR Fireblade bikes, which will be ridden by Jonathan Rea and Ruben Xaus. As in recent years, Honda has entrusted Dutch concern Ten Kate Racing with running the factory WSB team. First thing on the Castrol Honda agenda is a two day testing session at the Motorland Aragón circuit in Spain later this week. The 2011 WSB season comprises thirteen rounds with Phillip Island, Australia hosting the opening race on 27 February.

2012 Civic NGTC livery

Honda Racing’s all-new Civic NGTC race cars were first seen at a Brands Hatch test session last month. Then they were painted plain white, but now the colour scheme that will be worn in this year’s British Touring Car Championship has been revealed. As expected, the design is predominantly white with red and black stripes. A deal with Yuasa has also been confirmed, which will see the battery manufacturer becoming the renamed Honda Yuasa Racing Team’s title sponsor for the next three years.
