2021 Mazda BT-50 pick-up revealed
Whereas the previous BT-50 was based on the Ford Ranger, the all-new model is a reworked Isuzu D-Max.
To differentiate the Mazda version, restyled body panels follow the brand’s ‘Kodo - Soul of Motion’ design language. The dashboard and other interior components are unique, too.
Measuring 5,280 mm (207.9”) long and 1,870 mm (73.6”) wide, the BT-50 in Double Cab guise can carry loads up to 1,065 kg (2,347 lbs) with a maximum towing capacity of 3,500 kg (7,716 lbs). Power is provided by a 3.0 litre, four-cylinder, turbocharged diesel engine that produces 187 bhp (140 kW / 190 PS) plus 450 Nm (331 lb-ft) of peak torque.
The Mazda BT-50 will be built at Isuzu’s plant in Thailand. Deliveries are expected to begin later this year, but exports to Europe are unlikely at this stage.
