Ford launches a fourth Transit Custom Nugget
An elevating-roof version of the long-wheelbase Nugget Plus camper van has been announced by Ford.
Based on the Transit Custom and manufactured in partnership with Westfalia, it’s an alternative to the existing short-wheelbase Nugget (already offered in elevating roof and fixed high top guises) and the long-wheelbase Nugget Plus (until now only available with a fixed high top).
Inside, the habitation area is divided into distinct zones:
Power is provided by the familiar 2.0 litre EcoBlue diesel engine. There’s a choice of 128 bhp (95 kW / 130 PS) or 182 bhp (136 kW / 185 PS) outputs, plus customers can opt for either a six-speed manual gearbox or a six-speed automatic transmission.
Although Ford has yet to confirm prices for the elevating-roof Nugget Plus, dealers won’t start accepting orders until November. The first deliveries are then due to take place during the first quarter of next year.

Inside, the habitation area is divided into distinct zones:
- By day, the swivelling front seats and a forward-facing bench (the latter incorporating three seat belts and Isofix mounting points) combine to form a dinette. At night this set-up becomes a double bed.
- Behind that is an L-shaped kitchenette which features a fridge, a sink and a two-burner gas hob.
- The rearmost portion of the vehicle is occupied by a built-in toilet with a separate wash basin and extra storage space. Usefully, the specification also includes a privacy screen.
- When the elevating roof is raised, an ‘upstairs’ bedroom appears that accommodates a second double bed.
