Honda launches the all-new 2021 CB125F

Honda’s CB125F entry-level motorcycle has been completely revised for 2021.

Built around a redesigned high-tensile tubular steel frame, it features black 18” five-spoke cast aluminium wheels, a small nose fairing, a digital instrument cluster, an LED headlight, an LED tail light and a centre stand. Customers will have a choice of Black, Splendor Red or Pearl Cool White paintwork.

Power is provided by a new air-cooled, four-stroke, fuel-injected, 124 cc engine that’s mated to a five-speed transmission. This single-cylinder unit – which makes use of enhanced Smart Power (eSP) low-friction technologies – features an ‘alternating current generator’ to combine the alternator and starter motor functions.

Peak output has increased slightly to 10.7 bhp (8.0 kW / 10.8 PS) at 7,500 rpm, while maximum torque becomes 10.9 Nm (8.0 lb-ft) at 6,000 rpm.

The main beneficiary is efficiency, though. Whereas the previous CB125F achieved 144.0 mpg (2.0 l/100km / 51 km/l) according to the WMTC measure, fuel economy for the 2021 model is rated at 188.4 mpg (1.5 l/100 km / 66.7 km/l). Consequently, riding range is around 435 miles (700 kilometres) after the 11-litre (2.4-gallon) petrol tank has been brimmed.

Such an impressive improvement is partly due to a low wet weight of just 117 kg (257 lbs). In other words, the CB125F is now 11 kg (24 lbs) lighter than before, thanks mainly to its updated engine. However, novices might be disappointed to learn that the seat height has risen by 15 mm (0.6”) to 790 mm (31.1”).
