BMW has updated the R 1250 RT for 2021
Two years after the original version arrived, BMW has given its R 1250 RT tourer a mild refresh.
From a styling perspective, the front mudguard, fairing and windscreen have all been altered, plus a full LED headlight is now fitted. Furthermore, a new configurable 10.25” TFT display is used to show navigation information as well as the usual instruments.
An enhanced standard specification includes Full Integral ABS Pro, Dynamic Cruise Control (with a brake function to maintain a set speed, even on downhill stretches), and a fuel-saving ‘Eco’ riding mode.
Naturally, there are still plenty of cost options to tempt buyers. Among them are Dynamic ESA electronic suspension (with automatic load compensation), Riding Modes Pro, radar-reliant Active Cruise Control, and wireless device charging. Also on the list is Adaptive Turning Light which, as the name suggests, swivels the headlight into a bend according to the bike’s bank angle.
As before, power is provided by a 1,254 cc twin-cylinder boxer engine that features variable valve timing. Peak output is 134 bhp (100 kW / 136 PS) at 7,750 rpm, while the maximum torque figure is 143 Nm (105 lb-ft) at 6,250 rpm.
UK prices for the 2021 BMW R 1250 RT start at £15,820.
